1989 Cadillac De Ville & Fleetwood Manufacturer Promo
The long anticipated longer Cadillac came to us in 1989. The Coupe De Ville was longer overall by 6 inches due to increased in the front and rear overhangs.
The sedan, however was longer by 9 inches due to a 3 inch stretch of the wheelbase in addition to front and rear overhang. The Sedan de Ville put its extra 3 inches to work by increasing the rear seat leg room a like amount. Other exterior revisions were wrought on a new hood, decklid, restyled front fenders and rear quarter panels, and front and rear bumpers. Both models had larger trunks.
Cadillac Fleetwood Coupe, sedan and Fleetwood Sixty Special were also in the lengthened crowd from Clark Street in 1989. They each benefited from the same elongations the De Villes experienced. After a two year absence, the Fleetwood coupe returned to the line with room for six passengers. Many of the standard and optional equipment items available for De Villes found homes in Fleetwoods as well. The Fleetwood coupe and sedan however, now offered Teves electronic anti-lock braking as an important standard equipment upgrade.
Thank you for sharing! It was nice to see this. This was informative too. The Fleetwood was sharp looking during this time. GM made a great move when they up sized these two models in 1989. I wonder if they had come out in 1985 what would have happened. Thank you for sharing.
