Dodge’s sporty coupe got an entirely revamped interior for 1990 to match its swoopy exterior. on the powertrain front, there was two exciting new choices, the 3-liter 141 hp SOHC V6 and the impressive 2.2-liter 174 hp variable nozzle turbo (VNT) four. For the more sedate, there was Chrysler’s sophisticated Ultradrive 4-speed electronic automatic transmission . A driver-side airbag was standard.
I had the cousin to this car, the Dodge Lancer ES turbo. I drove these cars back in the day, they were pretty decent rides when first released. Chrysler did a good job of updating these cars as the years went by, but by this time, the competition had released newer cars and the Daytona was having a harder time keeping up. Regardless, I still wanted one, even at the end of production.
