1988 Buick Regal Test Drive

Buick’s biggest story for 1988 was the all-new GM-10/W-car Buick Regal that replaced the old but enormously popular RWD G-body car for 1988. The new front-drive car would be available in two trim levels, including one with two rear bucket seats. Its sleek exterior had flush glass, rounded corners, a low front end, and a taller tail. According to Buick, the coefficient of drag (Cd) figure improved 33% over the discontinued car. Regal’s engine was the corporate multi-port fuel-injected 2.8-liter V-6 of 125 hp at 4500 rpm. Four-wheel disc brakes and rack-and-pinion steering were standard.
