A new 4-cylinder engine was one of a few introductions for 1987. Oldsmobile again was GM’s division that talked of “targeting new product entries toward younger buyers”, and again, the new entries were nothing more than variations of existing themes.
Available as a coupe and a sedan, the Calais came standard with composite headlamps, previously only offered on the GT, along with a new grille. GT package included FE3 suspension, 14-inch aluminum wheels, rally instrumentation and optional 3.0-liter V6 that slotted above the standard 2.5-liter L4.
