01997 Toyota Paseo Convertible Test Drive
How do you make an amusing little coupe even more fun? By cutting off the roof, of course! That’s what the experts at ASC did to the Paseo (along with their usual careful structural beef-up). The insulated top was manually operated and featured a durable glass rear window. The 2+2 seating layout was retained, leaving room to bring along a couple of flexile friends. Just one year prior, the car was restyled inside and out, and now both the coupe and convertible gained detail changes to the interior. Only one engine was offered: a 1.5-liter/93-horsepower four that was shared with the Tercel. A five-speed stick was standar; a four-speed automatic was optional.
