01997 Porsche 911 Turbo S Test Drive
Although the Porsche Turbo S was a 911 through and through, it really was a separate entry due to a mixture of awe and reverence. Consider the specs: 424 turbocharged horses, all-wheel drive, and a six-speed manual transmission, all packed in a lightweight package that let you warp the time-space continuum. You’ll hit 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and cover the quarter mile in barely over 12-seconds.with a 113-mph terminal speed. Viceless handling adn outlandish braking power sweetened the pot. There were other sports cars this good, but none as refined and pleasant in normal driving as the 911 turbo. For all this, $150,000 didn’t seem too high a price to pay.
