01999 Plymouth Prowler Test Drive
Over the top. That’s the best way to describe Chrysler execs who seemed unaware that giant car companies don’t mass-produce street rods. By the way the Prowler energized Plymouth’s workforce and revitalized the brands’ image, maybe they weren’t crazy after all. A late arrival for 1997, the Prowler would rumble into the new year unchanged except for the addition of yellow and black to the color roster. With a 3.5-liter/214-horsepower V-6 borrowed from the LH-series of big sedans, the Prowler wasn’t particularly fast. It was shockingly distinctive, however, and was probably the only production car that could upstage another Chrysler creation, the Dodge Viper at your local burger stand.
