01998 Dodge Intrepid Test Drive
In 1993, Chrysler pulled the wraps off of its big LH-series sedans, and buyers discovered more room and style than they’d come to expect from competitive sedans. Chrysler was out to redefine the class again for 1998 with dramatic new LH’s, including the dashing new Dodge Intrepid. It rolled on an improved platform with better ride and noise isolation, and it had even more interior and trunk space, if such a thing was possible. Both available entiners were new, and they were up to 25 percent more powerful and 10 percent more fuel efficient than the engines they replaced. The base Intrepid had a 2.7-liter/200-horsepower V-6, and the Intrepid ES got a 3.2-liter/220-horsepower V-6.
