Purits howled that the 2006 Charger desecrated the memory of its namesake, a 1960s two-door, simply simply because it had four doors. The new one, however, had a Hemi in four models, the R/T, R/T with Road/Track or Daytona packages, adn the Charger SRT8, with its 6.1-liter Hemi. The semi-fastback sedan also was available in 3.5-liter V-6-powered SE, and SXT for the look and feel of the V-, if not the power and the price. Add ideal weight balance and fully independent rear suspension, and after the purists took one drive, the only howl you heard was from eight cylinders. Enough about the four doors already.
