02005 Hyundai Tucson Test Drive
Hyundai went Arizona with its new 2005 Tucson, the Korean manufacturer’s small SUV that shared parts with the 2005 Kia Sportage. It was offered with either a 2.0-liter four-cylinder )in base GL) or a 2.7-liter V-6 standard in the GLS and LX. Both engines could be ordered with front- or all-wheel drive, the latter featuring a locking center differential, but no low range. Stability control, brake force distribution, and four-wheel disc brakes with fABS were standard on all models. So was passive safety, with six airbags. The U.S.-built SUV got Hyundai’s hot 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
