01995 Subaru Legacy Wagon Test Drive
Larger, more powerful, lighter-weight, and more structurally sound, the redesigned Subaru Legacy bowed for 1995. Adding 2 inches to the wheelbase resulted in measurable improvements in passenger space, while a recalibration of the suspension improved both ride and handling. Sedan and wagon body styles continued, but dual airbags and three-point harnesses now took the place of those annoying motorized shoulder belts. Three trim levels (base L, LS, and up level LSi) were offered with front- or all-wheel-drive, and the one engine for all models was a refined 2.2-liter/135-horsepower flat-four. Special Brighton and Outback trim packages were offered on the wagon.
