1986 Hyundai Excel Test Drive
The Hyundai Excel was an international venture. It was based on Mitsubishi mechanicals engineered in Japan, but with a body styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro in Turin, Italy. It was built in Korea in a Mitsubishi engineered factory, from parts sourced all over. It was sold in America by Hyundai, but in yet another twist, Mitsubishi was buying cars from Hyundai and selling them as the Mitsubishi Precis. It was cheaper for Mitsubishi to import cars from Korea than build them in Japan.
