2001 Toyota RAV4 Test Drive
When the first Toyota RAV4 was introduced in 1996, it marked the debut of a whole new concept and brought on an industry wide rush to develop what is now known as the compact crossover. The all new second generation RAV4 was re-engineered and refined in almost every respect. Its overall length, width, height and wheelbase were all increased by an inch or more for more room inside. The restyled exterior had a more aerodynamic, aggressive appearance with new fabric and trim colors. Available in just a single trim level, the RAV4 came with little standard equipment, though the option list was very long.
