51988 Yugo GV Test Drive
The Yugo GV belongs to the mini-compact category. based on the Fiat 127, it was launched in April 1980 with a 900cc engine. It got a 1.1liter engine in March 1983. it was made in Yugoslavia at the Zastava factory in Kragujevac. The Yugo sold well initially in the US, but the same wasn’t true for Canada, do to its high price. The GV was no match for the Suzuki Forsa or Chevy Sprint. While it was relatively competitive in terms of acceleration, ad top speed, its sopping distances, passing ability, noise insulation and fuel consumption were not in the same league as the Japanese cars
I LOVE the styling! but the rest of the car is just painful… which is sad really…
Ahhhhhhh the Yugo. I really don’t miss this car at all but it is a sweet video to watch and remember. Thanks for posting it.
I rode in one of these in the early ’90s and I remember when they turned on the rear defrost, the high beams would shut off and vice-versa. Total POS, but… It has its place in history…
i would rock a yellow and grey convertible! GV?
Ok it’s not the worse car out there
