1971 Mercury Marquis Test Drive
Full size Mercury models came with a new look for 1971. Topping the big Merc line, with a price in the high $5000 neighborhood, was the Marquis Brougham, offered in three body styles, including a two door hardtop. The base model Marquis came in four body styles: four-door hardtop, two-door hardtop, four door sedan, and station wagon with a choice of two or three rows of seats. Marquis Brougham hardtop sedans sold only half as well as the equivalent plainer pillared four door sedans.
