Datsuns Matador?
I’ve always found the first gen Maxima to have a slight resemblance to American Motors mid size offering from 1974 until it was cancelled four years later. Whether that is agreed upon, or not, its what I see! Despite the Maxima’s ubiquitous three box design that was the staple Japanese import design of that era from small to extra small, one role Datsun/Nissan played in the 80 was its techy image. The impression this advancement in electronics had on me, lasted through the early nineties when I bought my first 80s Nissan product. Even if they were simple recordings, you can’t argue the cool factor that was the lady within the dash board calling your door a jar!
