Mercedes profited from the redesign of its most luxurious range, allowing it to benefit from its technological advances, be they in safety , power train or equipment. Their British rivals had not yet recovered from it by 1995.
The S-class represented the “nec plus ultra” in automobile technology. They were neither less expensive nor that much more sophisticated than the Rolls and for those who had the means, they represented quite the buy.
