11996 Ford Explorer V8 Test Drive
The reject and the star.
The big Ford Bronco became famous as a result of the O.J. Simpson trial, but its sales were much less impressive. In contrast, the Explorer became successful form the very beginning and the well liked utility vehicle was the most popular in its category. Supplanting the timid V6 was a new 5.0 V8 for the 1996 model year. Sophisticated, and sometimes more fully equipped than a sedan, the Explorer was an SUV designed particularly for outing on highways or on secondary roads. However with tires that can reach higher performance levels, it did well in off roading mainly thanks to its advanced 4×4 system.
