AJ Foyt drives the 1982 Chevrolet Camaro Indy 500 Pace Car
The Z28 was selected as the Indy 500 Pace Car in 1982. Features of the “Indy 500 Commemorative Edition” replicas included Sport mirrors, a rear spoiler, instrumentation, a leather wrapped steering wheel and a stock block 5.0 liter V-8 with a choice of Cross-Fire fuel injection (165 hp) or four barrel carburetor (140 hp). The cars had silver metallic paint with bright blue metallic accents, blue and red decal stripes, and Indy 500 Decals and dash plaques. Only 6360 of the $10,999 models were made.
