General Motors executives, designers, produce specialists, and public-relations types felt they could get extra ink by slipping certain types, sketches of some of the 2003 dream machines.
It’s important to note the three design studies were cars. GM’s product lineup was generally strong in the truck and sport utility area, so the company’s management was intent on making it clear it was putting focus on cars again, particularly on the performance variety.
The production cars were obviously tamer. The company would use the auto show media and public reaction to gauge whether or not these concepts had a future, either as entire vehicles or as queues that would show up on future models, like all prototypes. Either way it’s fun to dream.
