The Turbo Engines of Lincoln Mercury for 1985

Some of the hottest engine from Dearborn in 1985, were the boosted 4-cylinders also Ford offered.  The overhead cam 2.3 liter turbo engine in the  Cougar XR-7 was improved with an electronic waste-gate control system.  The turbo itself was modified to improve low-rpm engine response.  higher -glow injectors would handle the increased fuel demands.  Ford was looking for a 10 horsepower increase from this engine.
