Even though the Landcruiser was a real professional workhorse, treated in the luxury manner, the 4Runner was conceived for actual recreation. The former was offered in only one entirely equipped version with a single engine choice, while the latter was built on a pickup truck platform with a choice of 4-cylinder or V6 engines and manual or automatic transmissions.
