I’ve had the pleasure of owning a 1997 80-series Land Cruiser for just over a year now. I originally envisioned it as our family hauler that would be driven occasionally, but I find myself driving it daily even considering it’s gas guzzling tendencies.
In that time, the LC has never let me down or failed at anything I’ve asked of it. From climbing icy hills in downtown Seattle, pulling small trailers, to carrying 8′ 2×4’s in the cabin with the hatch closed! I have slowly been replacing a few parts that haven’t aged very well over the last 15 years, like the leather on the seats and steering wheel. Other than the aesthetic pieces, I’m not surprised how mechanically sound this vehicle is after all these years. It just goes to show that Toyota makes a quality product, especially when it comes to the Land Cruiser.

Is the tailgate window operable too?
