1997 Cadillac DeVille Concours Preview Test Drive

1997-cadillac-deville2

With the demise of Cadillac’s rear drive Fleetwood, an era had come to a close. Now, the front drive DeVille and DeVille Concours were left to carry on Cadillac’s proud tradition of full size luxury; cavernous interiors, indulgent accoutrement, and condo size trunks. Significant styling changes for 1997, complete with new front fenders and front and rear fascias. The DeVille retained its 4.6 liter 275 horse Northstar V8, while the more spirited Concours carried on with the 300 horse Northstar, plus a new center console and five place seating. Cadillac’s smart OnStar cellular/GPS tracking system was optional and side airbags were standard.

I’m a very proud owner of a 1997 Deville Concours. I’ve owned her since 2006 beginning with only 85k miles. I love this car so much she is a member of my family and I’ll never part with her. She is what a Cadillac should be at almost 210″ long! Unlike cars of today this sport sedan really is fullsize. I only wish this car was rear wheel drive. This car is fast and luxurious. Timeless Cadillac styling and luxurious interior. I love driving a big car that moves. Performance Cadillac didn’t begin with the CTS.
Sad part is some parts are becoming impossible to find. Any car will need repairs with age. Not being able to find the electronic struts was my biggest disappointment. Using monroe passive you loose the smooth ride but retain the handling. If only an enthusiast part supplier would start supporting these real Cadillacs.
Bottom line I love this car. If you can find 1 that was loved buy it. So these beautiful powerful rare Deville’s aren’t forgotten. I’m currently (2019) 36 years old. I’m not young or old but this is what an American luxury car should be!

  4. I just purchased a 1997 Cadillac Concours with 55000 original miles…
    Feeling really good about it!
The leather interior is still immaculate!!!
I’m about to go pamper it with some leather conditioner and love…
And YES it still drives like a DREAM…
Oh I almost forgot to mention; It’s “MONEY GREEN”!
