Lexus brass officially referred to this sleek hybrid as a ‘concept’ as it toured the North American auto show circuit during 1997. But Jim Press, general manager of Lexus, confirmed in January of 1997 that Toyota’s prestige division would introduce the aerodynamic all wheel driver as a ‘volume production vehicle’ soon after. And boy was he spot on, as the RX became one of the brands highest volume model when it comes to sales.
