Pontiac said the Vibe defied classification. Built at the GM/Toyota NUMMI plant, the Vibe was co-developed with Toyota’s Matrix and rode on a modified Corolla platform. The base model shared the Corolla’s 1.8L DOHC I-4 engine with VVT-i and offered fron or all wheel drive.  Targeting the sport-compact market, the Vibe GT got a high-output 180hp I-4 wtih VVTL-i and a six speed stick. The Vibe’s interior offered an SUV like driving position and could be configured to carry five passengers or bulky gear
