2004 BMW 5-Series Test Drive
The all-new E60 5 Series continued the controversial ducktail rear end design trend begun on the 7-Series, though the trunk crease was softened. Likewise, the iDrive accessory-control interface inside was reworked to make it more intuitive. All-new aluminum chassis components and body panels made the new car lighter than the old model even though it was slightly larger. The Base 525i was powered by a 2.5L Inline 6, while the 530i got a 3.0L Inline 6 and the 545i was motivated by the 4.4L V8 from the 745i.
