1974 Lotus Elite Test Drive

The dramatic, wedge-shaped Lotus Elite of 1974 was calling Chapman’s big move up Market. Sweeping aside old order of elon’s and europa’s, its backbone chassis and coil spring suspension were pure lotus in design and execution, and conferred fine handling in a good ride on this luxurious 4 seater sports car. The new 160 horsepower twin cam engine lacked torque, but could still take the car up to a hundred and twenty-five miles per hour.
