01980 Chrysler Cordoba Test Drive
The original Cordoba was a cool blade with the personal-luxury-car set and a tremendous success in terms of sales and street-level popularity. The 1980 Cordoba elicited a similar response with the crisp new lines it acquired through modern dieting. The 1980 Cordoba rode on a 112.7-inch wheelbase (down from 115) and weighed 350 pounds less than before; but curiously, interior space remained the same. The lost weight and an upgraded base suspension improved “everyday” handling by a bunch. Base, Crown, and sporty LS models were offered in the $6800-$7500 range with the standard Slant Six engine. A 318 V8 remained optional. Alas, sales dropped some 35,000 to 53,471.
