The Lincoln Mercury sports segment Capri paralleled Mustang developments for the 1982 sales year, in 4-seater, 3-door hatch body only, in base, GS, RS and Black Magic trims. The 2.3L 4 cylinder with 4 speed manual was standard, with 3.3L 6 cylinder with automatic, 4.2L V8 automatic, and a 5.0L V8 4-speed manual drive train options. The Black Magic version in white/gold or black/gold took gold TRX wheels with the complete suspension package, blackout trim with gold accent paint, hood scoop and rear spoiler from the RS, black seating and interior trim with blackout dash panel, and a gold cats head outline silhouette on each front fender. All Capris got a new standard 15.4 gallon fuel tank. A 5 speed manual transmission was optional with a 2.3L 4 cylinder engine only.
