1983 Ford Thunderbird vs the Competition Manufacturer Promo
The 10th generation T-bird was the smallest since the original two-seater. It had an eye catching aerodynamic body, an egg crate grille and wraparound headlamps. Immediately popular, the redesign boosted sales from 45,000 the previous year to 122,000. Power came from four and six cylinder engines, plus a turbo four available in an under $12k Turbo Coupe designed for the sports car set. The top of the line Heritage coupe with a V8 was $12,516.
