The Lincoln Mercury division’s economical rebadged Escort, also offered a performance oriented Lynx RS for 1983. It offered fast starting, smooth driving, electronic fuel injection and a 5 speed manual over-drive transaxle. Design features accompanying these power train advances with the Lynx RS model included fog lamps, front and decklid spoilers, dual racing mirrors, wheel arch “spats” and badges identifying the EFI and five-speed features. The lynx lineup also received a new European influenced luxury touring sedan model, the LTS, and design changes and improvements for all remaining models of this fuel efficient front wheel drive automobile.
