01986: A Celebrity With Crabs
A mild-mannered Celebrity Europost (two-door, four-door, or wagon) was no autobahn champion, but the lord will be with you when you happen upon a few 65-mph chicanes. The Eurosport was capable of some spirited maneuvers; it was also crisply sypled, and for 1987 it had a pleasant new interior and instrument layout.
For research purposes, Chevrolet equipped a 1985 Celebrity with a four-wheel-steering system, which used electronic power steering to control the rear wheels. Below speeds of 25 to 30 mph, the back wheels steered opposite to the front wheels, thus allowing greater response and a smaller turning radius; above these speeds, all the wheels turned in the same direction, and the car casually oozed sideways.
