1987: A second generation 6000?
Pontiac wanted to strengthen the identity of it’s 1989 6000 STE AWD with a complete sheetmetal makeover. Starting with the basic shape of the A-body 4-door sedan, the roofline would have changed from its upright formality to the faster style seen on A-body coupes, like the Oldsmobile Ciera. The decklid flowed from the base of the rear window down to just above the backup light arrayed between the taillights. Blend the taillight treatment with much of the styling seen on the 1988 Grand Prix, and that about described the car.
