11987 Range Rover Test Drive
In 1987 the first Range Rovers built to meet us safety and emission standards were delivered, and they were loaded with extras, like electric sunroofs, stereo systems, and deep-pile carpeting. Despite a $30,000 sticker price, more than 3,000 Range Rovers were sold in the first six months. Marketing surveys later showed that 68% of Range Rover buyers already owned three other cars and had a median household income of $200,000. Worldwide sales of Range Rovers topped 20,000 units in 1987. The next year sales of Range Rovers to pass Land Rover for the first time.
I saw many of those wagons here in the U.S.!
