11987: The Ford Taurus Gets Marked
Shown here in surveillance photos were the best views at the time, of the 1988 Lincoln Continental, code named FN-9. The FN-10, or coupe version, was scuttled to re-examine the projects’s direction. Reliably sourced, reports indicated the Connie would be powered by Ford’s 3.0-liter transverse V6, with consideration being given to possible use of the 3.8-liter engine. Bu we know the end result of that conjecture. The FN-9 would have automatic ride control (the “smart suspension”) and ABS, a big deal back then. No plans to use a modified 5.0-liter V8 for transverse installation, but photo notes: left and right exhaust tubes and hood pins?
I remember this one. It was the 1988 Lincoln Continental. It is interesting how that grew out of the Taurus and Sable. i know it used the 3.8 liter V6 rated at 140 hp initially.
