01988: 3-Series Blitz
In the summer of 1991, North Americans got the first shipment of the all-new E36 BMW 3-Series. The new baby BMW would offer a longer wheelbase and a roomier passenger compartment.Font overhang was minimal, giving the car a stubby loo, and the boxy tail was tall. Other styling elements included wide, body colored BMW kidneys, integrated bumpers, lipped wheel arches, and gently tapered sills. Thought to include L-shaped taillights to be more in keeping with the 5- and 7-series cars of the time, the rendering more resembled the E46, than the E36.
