1988: New Olds Shape from Toronado Alley for 1989

Oldsmobile, then considered GM’s upper crust performance-car division, was seeking to differentiate its front-drive, personal-luxury Toronado from the other slow-selling E-body cars from Cadillac and Buick.  For 1989, Toronado was to receive sleek, new sheet metal, a larger windshield potentially with a single wiper, thin A-pillars and low hood-line.  A 4wd model was rumored to be in the works as well.
