Sources close to Alfa Romeo said plans were afoot to replace the charming but aged 2-seater, the Spider. A new look RWD Alfa convertible was reportedly drawn by Pininfarina studios, which was also proposed to produce the car. It combined styling elements of the Alfa Family, with a long, flat topped tail deliberately evocative o the 1966 Guilia Spider. That car, commonly called the Duetto, was also shaped by Pininfarina.
