1989 Plymouth Voyager Manufacturer Promo
A turbocharged engine and a 4-speed overdrive automatic transmissions were new for Chrysler’s highly successful front-drive minivans. Passenger versions of the Caravan and Voyager were sold at identical prices and differed only in exterior trim. In addition, Dodge dealers sold a cargo-version, formerly called the Mini Ram and now called the Caravan C/V.
Voyager was officially designated as a truck, not a car, but combined Dodge and Plymouth sales during the 1988 model year was just under 393,000, which made them the most popular passenger vehicle in the U.S. when counted together.
Other changes for this year: A tachometer was not included in the optional gauge package, air conditioning was standard on LE models, and a power liftgate release was not standard on SE and LE models. Power rear-quarter vent windows replaced manual-opening vents as an option on SE’s and LE’s.
