1991 Buick Roadmaster Sedan Test Drive

Thanks to my friend Saabkyle04, for taking a moment to write about a car I know he has close ties to!

I own a 1995 Buick Roadmaster Limited with 60,000 miles. Purchased last year with 46k miles. If anyone is ever considering purchasing one I highly recommend the roadmaster over the caprice and fleetwood. Of the GM full size body on frame cars, I have to say the roadmaster is the best of all of them. It blends traditional, yet modern cues and can be thought of as a blend between the fleetwood and caprice. The caprice is a good car but is pretty basic, no real frills unless you step on up to the Impala SS. The Roadmaster also has a tighter suspension which makes it more predictable on highway ride than the caprice. Not to mention, it is the only one out of the others that has an analog gauge cluster, for those who aren’t a fan of the digital units. The Fleetwood is a great car, but can feel overly done, and doesn’t have the same flexible electronic climate control that the roadmaster has. The buick has essentially the same ride and style as the fleetwood for a fraction of the choice. 1995 and 1996 were the best years for the roadmaster with the most updated styling and best build quality. 1994 saw the introduction of the LT1 corvette based V8 which adds 80hp over the 1991-1993 model 5.7L. Makes these cars really fly down the road! 1994 also saw a new style interior, but retained the seats and exterior style. So it can be considered a blend of 1993 and 1995, sort of. Conclusion: if you can find one with super low miles, buy it and hang onto it! You won’t regret it! Super affordable, decent fuel mileage, epic ride quality and nothing like it today!

I would agree with you bajabusta, the Buick is way more appealling than the Caprice. It looks contemporary but not ‘weird’ and not so bulbous in the middle. I had forgotten it had the 350 standard as well.

As the owner of Saabkyle 1995 buick roadmaster I would have to say it is the best choice between the caddi and caprice. I have driven this car cross country from NC to Bremerton WA last August. I was getting 27.2 mpg @ 68 mph with the cruise on and a/c blasting..Yes parts are cheap but Labor is very Expensive–I updated the front and rear suspension since the tie rods were worn out so I spent the big money and put in a Hoskish total suspension pakage and a reman steering quick ratio box-replaced the PCM and had it tweeked and tuned–this car can fly-now with 72.500 miles I’m looking forward to going back to Bremerton WA this summer to visit Family.

The only thing this video is missing is Kyle’s “hey everybody hows it going”.
