Question: In 1991, what car was 27 years old, had sold more than 6 million units, was still the sales leader in its segment, and was still the best dollar-for-dollar, high-performance car in America?

Easy answer: Mustang

In the early 1990’s the original pony car remained true to its roots.  The classic elong-hood, short-rear-deck styling in sedan, hatchback and convertible models was still there.  So were the bucket seats, floor-mounted stick shift, rear-drive layout and high performance engines that knocked our parents’ socks off in the spring of 1964 and now thrilled us.  Perhaps most importantly, Mustang maintained its affordability and its spirit of fun and excitement.
