01991 Mazda HR-X Hydrogen Concept Car
Calling it “an ideal urban commuter for the 21st century,” Mazda showed the experimental HR-X at the end of 1991 at the Tokyo Motor Show. A twin-chamber 1-liter rotary engine in this lightweight mini ran on hydrogen fuel and was targeted to produce 100 horsepower. The 2+2 HR-X wrapped its fiber-resin plastic body panels over an aluminum space frame.
