Originating from the Mazda 323 Protege platform, the Tracer and Escort still share the steering and front and rear axles with their cousin. However the calibration of the independent suspensions has been adapted to the American taste. This popular line of automobiles was Ford’s battle horse and it had already earned the title of the best selling car in North America. Going from sub-compact to compact the Tracer was available in sedan and wagon body styles. in spite of all the acknowledged qualities of these modern well presented cars, they are no longer the stars of the sales lists as they used to be.
