Minivans enjoyed amazing popularity. About 7 years after this category first appeared, sales continued to climb. While car sales remained stagnant, more and more minivans were being sold. This strong showing prompted manufacturers to come up with increasingly sophisticated models designed to attract buyers and undermine Chrysler’s supremacy in this market sector. Besides launching the category, Chrysler dominated it for the same period. However, the arrival of more competition reduced Chrysler’s lead over the segment.
