Oldsmobile hoped to reverse flagging sales and sharpen its murky brand image with the four-door shown here. The new sedan, scheduled to launch in 1994 and rumored originally to carry the defunct Toronado nameplate or take the Anthem name from that year’s Oldsmobile show car. It rode atop GM’s new G-body platform and power would come from a 4.0-liter derivative of the 4.6-liter Northstar V-8. Also rumored was a Northstar-powered sistership two-door, obviously retaining the Riviera nameplate.
Thank you for sharing the story. Yes, it should have been called ” Toronado” and we know it was Aurora. I wish the rear doors did look like that in production. Oh, well…. we know how it all played out in the end.
Thank you for sharing….
Yeah…. you are correct. I miss Olds too. I still drive the two( 1995 Ninety Eight and 1992 Toronado) I own. Enjoyed the new Oldsmobile videos on your channel.
