01993: Codename JA
The Dodge Spirit R/T was a howling lot of four-door sports car fun, but it was loud, boisterous, and rude to the neighbors. Not only that, its boxy exterior fairly shouted Dad’s car! Even if it wasn’t. The redesigned JA-series Spirit/Acclaim out, and Stratus/Cirrus in, would do away neatly with all form and function misgivings for the 1995 model year. The JA’s styling was borrowed directly from the highly popular Cirrus show car of a few years prior. Shown is the Spirit’s (Stratus) cab-forward styling treatment, bearing a Dodge-signature gunsight grille and performance wheels and tires. Spirit, indeed.
