1993 Volkswagen Golf Test Drive
It had been eight model years since the Golf’s last major redesign, so VW spared no effort in creating a shape that took it into the 21st century. Outside, aero styling stretched over the wider track and larger wheels and created space for the roomier interior. Surprisingly, an airbag hadn’t been added; pesky motorized belts were used instead. Powered by a new 2.0-liter four, Golf delivered good performance and economy.
