In Europe, the popularity of Opel’s adorable Tigra was enormous.  Opel-owner General Motors was so taken with the minicar’s success that it supposedly gave the green light to the German carmaker to engineer a convertible Tigra, and Pontiac was thinking about marketing its own version of the car in the U.S.
