Encouraged by vigorous 1994 sales, SLP Engineering, Inc planned to double production (up to 1,000 units) of its Firehawk version of the Pontiac Firebird in 1995.
Effectively, the Firehawk was a $6,495 option on any Firebird Formula V8 Coupe, T-top, or new convertible. That bought 17 inch wheels and tires, and upgraded suspension, and a functional forced air induction system that amplified engine output from 275 to 300 horsepower. In addition, options such as a Hurst short-throw shifter for the 6-speed manual transmission and an even more aggressive suspension were available.
Besides new 5 spoke wheels, the most obvious change to the 1995 Firehawk was the addition of hood graphics that proclaimed horsepower as either 300 or 315 (the latter in the cars that also carried SLP’s performance exhaust system). Firehawks came with a 3-year 36000 mile warranty and could be ordered through any Pontiac dealer.
